FIVE Fall Work From Home Outfits That I’ll Be Wearing Again And Again This Season

Working from home in the summer called for cool fabrics, pretty pastels, and a combination of my favorite summer maxi dresses. However, working from home during the colder months means mixing things up a tad – which works out well for me as I have a whole wardrobe of exciting pieces that I can’t wait to break out and style in my own way. Let’s take a look at just a few…

PS: don’t forget to check out my previous post about how you can still hold onto the summer by reworking your spring/summer pieces with some little tweaks to make them perfect for fall. Plus, a lot of the looks are versatile and comfortable enough to see you through your entire work-from-home day, yet stylish enough to leave the house in/go for a lunchtime stroll without the need to change.

A Ribbed Midi Dress

This fabric is perfect for this time of year, as it keeps me a lot warmer than a light, cotton summer dress would – plus, the layering possibilities are virtually endless! Choosing a ribbed midi dress in an autumn color such as dark blue or the gray/purple shade I am wearing in the picture really takes the look from summer to fall perfectly. The beauty of a women’s midi dress in a versatile color is that you can really play around with layers and accessories, as they will dictate the overall aesthetic.

I’ve teamed mine with my Chanel lambskin and calfskin ivory boots – who doesn’t love an ankle boot for the colder months? – and some chunky knit socks, which let’s face it, are the epitome of cozy, work-from-home-during-fall comfort.

Comfortable Women’s Leggings

If you can’t wear leggings when you’re working from home, when can you? I love these classic scrunched leggings from Anthropologie – they come in gray and neutral, and they’re both absolutely perfect for fall. I love these soft colors, as they complement the rest of my wardrobe much better than say, a standard black pair of leggings would. Although I definitely think we all need at least one pair of black leggings in our closets, because black goes with absolutely everything! And while we’re on the subject of fall colors, I think beige and brown are really having a moment too, as you may remember me mentioning in my recent post about fall trends…

One thing I always remember when shopping is to think about what existing pieces I have that I can pair the potential new item with – one of my many tips for creating a capsule wardrobe that results in everything being worn again and again. I hate the dilemma of having a closet full of clothes and then proclaiming that I have nothing to wear, and have always found that conscious shopping and always being aware of what my wardrobe has or is lacking really helps me steer clear of fast fashion and only buy what I need.

Super-Feminine Maxi Skirt And Henley

Remember my earlier point about reworking summer pieces for fall? This outfit is the perfect example of using a summer favorite that I’m not ready to let go of just yet, and pairing it with something more season-appropriate. You know I love my tie dye, and teaming my DOLAN Collection tie dye skirt with a simple henley instantly takes the look from spring/summer to fall. The feminine maxi skirt provides me with ultimate comfort which is perfect for an entire day of sitting at a desk, if necessary, and the accessories such as the Ashton Trimmed Boater, Gucci Princetown mules and Christian Dior bracelets are a nice added bonus.

Because let’s face it, working from home and not having as much human contact as we are used to can get us a little down, so it’s all about finding little pick-me-ups to get you through the day. And for me, accessorizing plays a big part!

The Failsafe Jeans And A Sweater Combo

If we rewind to this time last year, and someone told us that we would be working from home in jeans and a sweater every single day for the foreseeable future, I wouldn’t have believed them. And I wouldn’t have been alone! However, as a glass half full girl, I like to see the positives in every situation; and getting the chance to shop for and wear more oversize chunky sweaters (such as the Super Soft Cowl Neck Aran sweater that I will be wearing again and again) is definitely a small but very appreciated silver lining.

No need for an outfit change when you get home from work, as jeans and a chunky sweater can now work for the entire workday, as well as the long weekend walk (perfect when teamed with the Gia beanie and ankle boots) and of course, relaxing in front of the fire with a glass of red wine. The Free People sweetheart sweater is another fall must-have that I know I will be living in this season and next. It comes in black, sand castle and botany, and I predict all three will be selling out pretty fast!

Comfortable Women’s Loungewear Sets

And last but not least, the best work from home outfit of all – loungewear! Apart from working in pajamas (which is totally okay and something we have all definitely done while quarantining… and a few times before!) working in loungewear every day is the gift we never knew we needed.

I’m all about comfortable clothing – as you may know, I’m currently working on my very own loungewear collection which I couldn’t be more excited about. Watch this space, as I may be able to give you some sneak peeks in about 4-6 weeks – fingers crossed!

But until then, there is still no shortage of loungewear in my home or in my closet, which anyone who looks at my Instagram and Like To Know accounts will know. This Culver City Set from Free People is just one of many loungewear sets that I gravitate to when I am searching for ultimate sartorial comfort. The one I am wearing in the picture is the Willow shade, but believe me when I tell you that these are worth snapping up in most if not all of the color combos. (For the record, they also come in rose pearl, gold finch, antique shell, sugar almond, forsythia, ponderosa, and black.) I really like the understated color palettes that are toned down and appropriate for the fall season, and not at all dark and gloomy. Although I love incorporating black into my wardrobe, I am definitely all about lighter shades with a subtle autumnal feel, and all of these loungewear sets – akin to the rest of the pieces in this edit – really reflect that.

Which outfit combination is your favorite? Will you be rocking any of these as you work from home this fall?
